R.H. Sheppard Co. introduces the first-ever diagnostics tool built for their own systems: Sheppard Diagnostic Tool (SDT)
Jun 27, 2025

R.H. Sheppard Co., a trusted name in commercial steering systems, is launching its first diagnostic software; developed in partnership with Cojali, the company behind Jaltest. This move marks a new chapter for RH Sheppard, giving technicians a direct way to work with the systems they’ve long relied on, and offering a tool that speaks the language of the Sheppard product from the inside out.

For years, steering systems have been one of the most commonly misdiagnosed areas of a vehicle, and that's why Sheppard has decided to develop their very own software. They've always educated technicians to follow a triage system of gathering information about symptoms with the driver, performing a visual inspection, and conducting mechanical tests before placing blame on the system’s health.

In order to provide continuous support for RH Sheppard’s active steering systems, the Sheppard Diagnostic Tool will provide:

Comprehensive Coverage: Full access to every proprietary protocol for Sheppard Active Steering products

Guided Calibration Workflows: Step-by-step, interactive on-screen guidance for fault code reading, system calibration, health checks and firmware updates, all aligned to factory specifications.

OEM-Level Accuracy: Direct integration of RH Sheppard’s proprietary data ensures every test and adjustment meets original equipment standards.

Dedicated Support Channel: Embedded help links connect technicians to RH Sheppard-certified support staff for real-time assistance and technical advice.

Sheppard Diagnostic Tool (SDT) is available as a standalone program that works with any RP1210-compliant VCI, including Jaltest devices. For shops already using Jaltest Diagnostics, Sheppard has also created an optional add-on module that integrates its OEM protocols directly into the Jaltest platform—giving users access without switching software apps and reducing team’s learning curve.

This new tool reflects Sheppard’s ongoing commitment to supporting technicians who keep their systems running. It’s a practical and technician-first approach to diagnostics—reducing downtime, improving accuracy, and keeping trucks moving with confidence.

This partnership with Cojali represents a strategic step for RH Sheppard and sets a foundation for future digital service solutions. Both companies have expressed their intent to explore further collaboration to support Sheppard's commitment to innovation and quality.
