Cojali and Lechler sign an agreement to boost intelligent agriculture through advanced ESV valve control
Aug 12, 2025

Cojali, a leading company in the development of technological solutions for the automotive sector and agricultural equipment, has signed a collaboration agreement with Lechler, a renowned German company in the development of spraying technologies for agriculture and industry. This alliance is focused on the joint development of an ESV valve control system, designed to optimise efficiency and precision in agricultural applications, relying on Jaltest ISOBUS advanced technology.

Jaltest ISOBUS, Cojali’s division specialised in intelligent electronic solutions for agricultural equipment, has established itself as one of the key players in the digitalisation of the countryside. Its technology enables complete and standardised integration between agricultural implements and tractors, ensuring interoperability between brands and facilitating the use of connected machinery in automated agricultural environments.

Within the framework of this collaboration, Jaltest ISOBUS has developed a specific electronic control system for Lechler ESV valves, designed to meet the requirements of precision, robustness and sustainability demanded by modern agriculture. This technical development incorporates a number of innovations that mark a turning point in spraying control:

Unprecedented energy efficiency, thanks to a patented charge control system that allows for a reduced power consumption of only 100-120mA, which is more than 60% less compared to standard market consumption (around 320mA). This energy optimisation allows the use of wide working widths without the need for additional power supplies, maintaining reliable performance even on older tractors or tractors that have not been electrically modified.

Continuous real-time monitoring of the status of ESV valves, allowing immediate detection of faults and increasing system reliability. In addition, a supercap ensures the emergency stop function, increasing the safety of the operation.

The system performs automatic adjustment of all valves at start-up, using standardised CAN BUS communication, which simplifies set-up and ensures consistent performance from the start.

The electronics are fully encapsulated in a robust IP68-protected housing, which ensures the system operation in extreme environmental conditions, protecting it from moisture, corrosion and internal condensation through the use of epoxy filler and a controlled aeration system.

It allows flexible configuration of spraying boom cross sections, down to minimum widths of 0.25 metres, significantly reducing overlaps and improving the efficiency of input use.

The system achieves extremely short switching times —only 300 milliseconds to open a valve— allowing for outstanding precision, especially useful in applications based on mapping and intelligent crop management.

Fully ISOBUS compatible, it ensures direct integration with existing systems on agricultural equipment, promoting automation and connectivity in the field.

Gonzalo López, Business Development Director of Jaltest ISOBUS has pointed out that “this joint development shows how collaboration between technology companies can act as an agent of real change in the agro-industrial sector. From Cojali, through Jaltest ISOBUS, we contribute with our experience in electronic innovation to achieve more connected, sustainable and efficient agriculture.”

Pedro Peñalver, Head of the Agriculture Division of Lechler Spain, stated that “this strategic alliance with Cojali allows us to make a qualitative leap in our firm commitment to precision agriculture by combining our extensive experience and know-how in spraying technology with the latest generation electronic solutions provided by Cojali. In this way, we are able to offer the market an integrated solution of the highest technical value in order to increase the efficiency of phytosanitary treatments, by having a direct impact on the two most pressing needs of the current global agricultural sector, improving the productivity and economic profitability of the farmer, and contributing to preserving the environmental sustainability of the surroundings.”
