Knorr-Bremse and Cojali launch new ECU Repair Service “ESB REMAN”
٠٤‏/١١‏/٢٠٢٥

Cojali and Knorr-Bremse present ESB REMAN, an innovative repair service that offers a second life to the electronic control units (ECU) of commercial vehicles. This new joint step reinforces the commitment of both companies to a complete, efficient and sustainable aftermarket ecosystem, while contributing to boosting circular economy and reducing the environmental impact of the sector.

Cojali and Knorr-Bremse take the next step towards further realizing the vision of a comprehensive, efficient and reliable commercial vehicle aftermarket ecosystem. After more than a decade leading the Iberian market in the repair and reconditioning of electronic components, Cojali now joins its experience and technical know-how with the global strength of Knorr-Bremse to promote ESB REMAN, a service that aims to expand and universalise this repair model throughout Europe. This proposal will make it possible to repair the electronic control units (ECU) of commercial vehicles, making a significant contribution to the acceleration of the circular economy and the conservation of resources.

ESB REMAN reflects the vision of a holistic aftermarket ecosystem that gets commercial vehicles back on the road quickly after repairs. The new service is designed to offer workshops an efficient alternative to the replacement of control units instead of new ones. At the same time, it helps reduce maintenance costs, minimizing downtime and extending the service life of key vehicle components.

Based on a strong European network of a total of four repair centres, ESB REMAN offers a fast, efficient and localised service. Currently, the service has operational facilities in Spain, France, Italy and the Czech Republic, which contributes to reduced transportation times, as well as closer and more personalised attention to each customer.

Alexander Wagner, Vice President Global Aftermarket/TruckServices, Knorr-Bremse Commercial Vehicles, emphasizes: “The holistic aftermarket ecosystem aims to provide service solutions that meet the needs of workshops, fleets, and distributors alike. With ESB REMAN, we are now launching a service that is specifically designed for Commercial Vehicle ECUs. ESB REMAN offers a direct service and fast repairs instead of procuring new parts. The solution is economical and eco-friendly at the same time. Due to our repair hub system, repairs are carried out as locally as possible considering the same standards and processes. The repairs are performed by trained and experienced personal and the ECU types covered will be continuously expanded.”

Venancio Alberca, CEO of Cojali: “At Cojali we have been committed to repairing and extending the useful life of electronically controlled components for more than 10 years, a process that contributes to environmental conservation and cost reduction for our customers.

During these years, Cojali has invested in the qualification of its technicians. Taking advantage of this synergy, together with its know-how in the repair of electronic control units with the advanced diagnostics and fault code detection of Jaltest Diagnostics tool, it has been possible to develop Jaltest ESB: ECU Simulation Bench. The Jaltest ESB simulation equipment makes it possible to diagnose, understand errors and test electronic control units for commercial vehicles. Jaltest is the core of the ESB REMAN project and the commitment of the repair centres that comprise it, as well as a technological milestone for Cojali.”

Commitment to the circular economy: Contribution to the reduction of electronic waste

ESB REMAN combines in-depth technical knowledge, a firm commitment to the circular economy and personalised attention, which enables fast and reliable solutions aligned with the current challenges of the sector. Thanks to a rigorous technical process and the use of proprietary technology, such as the Jaltest ESB ECU Simulation Bench, it is possible to recondition more than 1,100 ECU references corresponding to different vehicle systems: engine, brakes, suspension, transmission, anti-pollution, instrument cluster, among others.

The repair process has been designed to offer the highest quality and reliability. Upon receipt, the ECU undergoes a visual inspection and advanced diagnostics, which allows accurate identification of faults. Damaged components are then replaced with new parts and all functionalities are verified prior to shipment, ensuring a performance comparable to that of a new product.

ESB REMAN represents an affordable alternative to buying new parts and actively contributes to the reduction of electronic waste provided by two innovation leaders. With ESB REMAN, Cojali and Knorr-Bremse reaffirm their commitment to the evolution of maintenance in the commercial vehicle sector, providing solutions that extend the service life of vehicles and drive a more cost-effective, efficient and environment-friendly model.
